On a rotating rack in the back of an antique shop, you’ll usually find an assortment of postcards. Fragments of a past era, places both familiar and unknown, yet enchanting all the same. Inspired by these treasures, this series is a suspension of the past and present, romanticizing what once was and what could be. Through these vibrant narratives, Jacobs invites viewers to connect with their own wanderlust, the dreamy and whimsical of an endless summer vacation.
Molly Jacobs (b. 1999) is a photographer from New Berlin, WI. From an early age, Jacobs found cameras a reliable tool to mold the world around her. Photography quickly became an outlet to make her hometown feel bigger, grander, while finding her place in it. To feed her lust for something new, her photos allowed her to tell stories that transported her to different places, time periods, or even embody different personas. Postcards From Nowhere brings this ideology full circle, emphasizing that imaginative spark of making even the ordinary moments something to write home about, and isn’t that just what postcards are for?
Postcards from Nowhere is a montage of stories that blend nostalgia and imagination.
